This site is to try and document my build up of my 1973 Triumph TR6. I picked up this car in the spring of 2008, it needed a few repairs to make it safe to drive but I did not want to do any major restoration till the end of the summer so that I could get to know the car and decide what repairs or changes that I would do over the winter of 2008-2009.
The six originally came with a straight six engine that when new produced around 100 HP that is mated to a 4 speed transmission and independent rear suspension. This little car is a blast to drive and I was planning on keeping it stock but the engine is a little underpowered for me. The inline 6 needed to be rebuilt and the 4 speed transmission needs to be a 5 speed to be comfortable on the highway, the rear end also needs some repairs due to broken mounts. To get more power I could have rebuilt the motor and added fuel injection and a supercharger but it would have cost well over $4000 to do correctly. There is a nice 5 speed transmission conversion that uses a Toyota 5 speed but the kit is around $2000. With all of the upgrades I would sill be around 150 hp.
The plan is to install a 1998 Pontiac V6 3800 L67 supercharged engine rated at 240hp stock and T5 transmission from a 99 Camaro V6 and a r200 rear end into my Six. With this setup I should have a modern reliable high performance power plant that should still get 30 MPG and still look stock on the outside.
